About Kathryn
I grew up quickly, moved out at sixteen and worked hard, always. I left the Bay Area to spread my wings a bit and landed in Modesto, California. For over thirty years I worked as the Operations Director for a non-profit organization. I loved my job, the people I worked with, and the important service we provided to the community.
I got married, had kids, then divorced. I met my current husband, Darwin, and we dated for sixteen years; we’ve been married for five. He is my happily ever after—my always and forever.
My family includes my two biological sons— Dillon and wife Jessica, grandson, Ledger McKnight. Justin and wife Amanda, granddaughter, Everly Grace, and grandson, Jeremiah Dean. My three bonus kids — Shaylin (our oldest), Justin Anthony, and Kayleigh. We have animals sprinkled here and there, and I have a beautiful horse. Well, I don’t exactly have her yet, but soon. I hope!
In June of 2018, I resigned from my position to join my husband in Hawaii where he was working at the time. It is on this beautiful island that I discovered my passion for writing.
My first book, Counting Spoons, is about our walk through our youngest son’s addiction. That painful journey led us to something really beautiful. Life is funny that way, all those dark times seemed endless, but here we are, living in peace, immeasurable joy, and an abundance of blessings. For everything, even the worst of times, I am so very grateful.
